Part of the General Motors lineup of brands until is discontinuance 2010, Pontiac was known for its sporty cars that helped define the brands reputation in the 1960s and 1970s. From its first breakout hit, the Bonneville to the iconic GTO, Pontiac was the stuff of dreams for a generation of road going Americans. The brand sought to recapture those glory days in the mid 2000s with the Vibe, Solstice, and G8. Even with the initial success of its new models, the economic downturn that began in 2008 spelled the end for the iconic brand. Despite the fact that the company is no longer producing new models, its American muscle is alive and well in the many Pontiacs still on the road today.
